COFFEE AND GO

We could hear the chatter from the coffee shop as we approached, knowing it would be busy on a Saturday afternoon helped us to blend into the crowd, even knowing we had a reason for being here together, I still felt guilty, no way was I going to act on this guilt though. I was going to have the best night tonight that I had had for a very long time, I had planned every detail meticulously and this would be a night I would remember for the rest of my life.

Approaching the counter Steve asked if I wanted a latte, I wanted to scream at him, no I bloody do not, I want a cappuccino like I always have it is your wife that likes the latte, I do wish that you would remember that Steve.  Instead I just replied.

“No thanks, a cappuccino please,” he gave me the sorry, sad eyes look and I melted and snuggled into his side.  I loved him so much how could I be mad at him. I gave my reassurance at the beginning of this affair that I would never complain about his wife or the way he shared his time between us, it was so hard though and heart breaking on special days.  I told myself that he was worth the wait and everything would be all right in the end, everyone has difficult paths to walk at times in their lives and this was mine.

I saw the seat become vacant so telling Steve I was over by the window I went and sat down.  I loved pretending that we were a happy couple out for a coffee, today I could as we were shopping for clothes as tonight was our works annual Summer Ball.  I had been looking forward to this for so long, I had picked out and bought my dress and was just looking for costume jewellery to accessorise with it.  I wanted the dress to be a surprise for Steve and I had no doubt he would love it.

I think I fell in love with Steve the moment I walked through the door of his office, tall, fair and so incredibly handsome that I just went to pieces and stumbled my way to the chair for the life changing interview.  Steve asked all the normal questions about my background then telling me all about the company he had started from scratch and was now big enough for him to have a full time secretary, me!

The phone call that came an hour after I had left the interview was going to change my thoughts and feelings on life for ever.  He sounded so happy with a twinkling in his voice that I was to become addicted to.  We

arranged to meet at four at a tiny bistro in town, knowing about it but never having had the opportunity to go there we ended up making it ‘our place’.

We sat and talked about the job and what he expected, it sounded like a doddle which I could accomplish in three days not the five that he was paying me for.  As it was getting late he asked if I wanted to dine with him, so we could ‘get to know one another’ was how he had put it.  After choosing from the menu which was so hard as everything sounded delicious, Steve picked the wine and said it would accompany the meal superbly and what a good choice I had made.  We talked so much, no silences like there were with so many men I had dated in the past.  The meal looked wonderful but I would never be able to remember the exotic tastes of the dishes that I had ordered, I was smitten.  Every detail he told me was stored I absorbed everything, he sounded too good to be true but I could find no faults, I even thought to myself that this man could be a keeper.  Looking at his expensive watch he declared it was past eleven so he would drop me home as he did not want me walking home on my own.  My mouth lost the ability to form words in the car so I just sat, every so often glancing at him out of the corner of my eye.  Stopping outside my town house he said how much he had enjoyed the evening and could not wait for me to start working for him the following week.  As I moved to get out the car he leant over and putting a hand on my arm making me turn to look at him he gave me the briefest light brushing of his lips on my cheek.  Once out of the car I turned, putting my hand up as a goodbye, he did not drive off until I was indoors and had shut the front door.

The relationship started so slowly that it sort of became natural and right, the first time we spent the night together was at a luxury manor in the country, I had never been anywhere like it, he had booked us in for joint massages that were out of this world, there was nothing I did not love about this man.  That night he held me in his arms and told me he was married with a daughter of fifteen!  I felt like the room was crushing in on me I could not breath, I wanted to run, cry, scream but he held me tight not letting me go until he had explained his life to me in detail, so in the end he didn't have to hold me, I stayed in his arms and from that day I had loved him with all my heart.  I lived for the day we would be together as we had planned, knowing it was three years away was heart breaking but I tried to not think about it and enjoy the time together when we could snatch treasured moments.

Returning with the coffee Steve sat down, getting the contract out of his briefcase we went over the

amendments quickly, I said I would type it all up Monday morning so they would get it Monday afternoon if I faxed it over.  We both smiled at one another as that contract was worth half a million to the company, meaning a few thousand would be siphoned off for our life together in the future.  We really had planned everything and that was what kept me going on the long lonely nights when Steve could not be with me.

“Right, enough about work” Steve declared, in a low voice leaning towards me so I could feel his breath on my face he asked me what I was going to wear that night.  It was our first ball so very special, the setting was a large hotel with their ballroom looking out over the beach with a door leading out as it was a private beach for residents only.  We had chosen it together, sure that the loyal workers that we had employed over the last year would enjoy every moment of the evening.  Whispering in Steve’s ear all I said was            “white, suspenders, backless dress!”  The intake of his breath was all I needed to know I had made a good choice!

Talking about the evening and where we were going to meet I lowered my voice and asked Steve if his wife might change her mind about not going tonight and show up?

“No, she has already told me that she is going to visit her Mum and Dad in Surrey for the weekend as she has no interest in going for a night out with employees of the company!”   I felt the smile fill my face as I knew then that nothing would interrupt our night of passion.  Steve carried on talking about his wife saying that his employees mean a lot to him and how he could not understand her, she certainly enjoys spending the money they bring into the company though as she is always out buying new clothes lately and off out here and there.  The summer ball is the highlight of the company year!

Just then I noticed a group of teenagers sitting with their back to Steve then one of them turned round and spoke to Steve saying,

"Oh! Hi Dad, so that's where Mum’s going tonight, your Summer Ball,  We have been shopping for hours this morning we found her a stunning long red dress and accessories though,” leaning in close to her Dad she whispered "even suspenders Dad!  Have a great night, nudge, nudge, wink, wink.  I am going to stay at Lilly's so no need to worry about me, see you tomorrow".

The colour drained from Steve’s face, slowly his eyes lost their sparkle, finishing his coffee he said goodbye to his daughter and walked out!

Ordering another coffee I sat, knowing my time with Steve was over, he didn't love me!

Mistaken Identity?  Or Not?

As he parked the car he looked all around to see if anyone was watching him, not really thinking they would be as he was a good two towns away from home. He got the ticket making sure it was ok for a couple of hours, he had never been longer than two hours so new that would be fine. As he walked into the back entrance of Pussycats one of the girls appeared to welcome him taking him through to the waiting area, which was very elegantly done out in red velvet and low lighting.  The bar was in the far corner and he went towards it to get a straight shot of Bourbon, the girl serving him was gorgeous he thought to himself and those legs go on for ever, how he would of loved to follow them up and taste her softness.

The madam who ran the establishment came over to welcome him, she did remember him as he had been before on numerous occasions roughly every 8 weeks.  She wondered why he only came then and had once asked him and his reply had been that he was away working.  He didn't want her to know any of his business and kept everything to himself not even sharing anything at home with his wife of 20 years.  Thinking of her he felt a twinge of pain for his wife, she would be distraught if she knew where he was.

As he filled in the customary paperwork he adjusted his glasses he didn't want to miss anything or sign in the wrong place and to just check that it was the same form which was just about accidental damage and that they had no liability if he was injured or something.  He sometimes thought that he ought to get them to sign a form for him as some of the girls could be a bit rough with his old todger.  Just as he was about to sign another girl with a tray full of glasses and jugs for the bar walked past and fell over, he never did find out what she fell over as in the commotion she fell into him and knocked his glasses off then preceding to stand on them.  Hearing the crunch of the glass his heart raced, panic, how would he see he depended on those glasses?  The apologies that followed did nothing to help the situation but the promise that they would buy him new glasses up to the value of £200 soothed him considerably also the session he was about to have was free and he could have their brand new girl who had started last week.

Suddenly the world didn't seem too bad, even though he couldn't see a thing, he followed madam through to the purple room the lights were so low he was surprised he didn't fall over something.  As he left her and walked into his heaven as that's what he called it to himself, all he could make out was a lot of purple, then the girl said
"I hope you don't mind the lights off, I'm a bit new to this and perform so much better in low light."  "Of course not" he replied thinking to himself that she sounded familiar but had a strange accent.  As she slowly undressed him not saying a word he was getting so aroused at her touch and really just wanted to kiss her everywhere but that wasn't allowed, how could he contain himself.  Well he tried but it was so hard, there was something so familiar about her and her smell, he loved that perfume; where had he smelt it before? He asked himself over and over again.  The girl turned out to be the best he had ever had and he told her that also saying that he wished he could see her face, she replied saying that wasn't it better to keep it all a mystery?
"But how will I know who to ask for next time I'm here?"  I'm sure if you just say your wife they will know it's me!  "What the," he started to say before she turned to him while opening the door saying, "if you can't beat them join them, good afternoon hubby, I hope you enjoyed your visit, see you next later"!
